As trimester two comes to an end, there is school-wide stress on turning in papers and projects and finding time to study for midterms. With midterms accounting for just 10% of trimester two grades, there is not much hope for grades to move up substantially but there is an opportunity for grades to drop. These exams cover the previous six months of the school year, leaving a lot of information to study and topics to cover.
Along with midterms in year-long classes, many trimester courses have their final projects and papers due. Many senior electives have their Senior Research Papers due or have projects surrounding the central idea of their trimester classes. With many of these projects being due in the upcoming days, there is not much time left for meeting with teachers to help study.
With the stress of the upcoming week, many students are spending their free time in the library or in meetings with teachers to make sure they will feel prepared come exam day. Now more than ever with winter sports coming to an end people have been departing from campus sooner to finalize their work. Students have been spending countless hours studying and reviewing to ensure their success on the exams.
Much stress will be released after we get sent off to our spring break, though it doesn’t all end there. Many students will be stressed about receiving grades back from certain exams or projects and wondering how their overall grade will be affected.
Spring sports will ramp up and many people will be dealing with tryouts, practices and games. The school will pick back up in late March, and there will be a straight shot to the end of the year and capstone projects. These projects will help show the student’s understanding of the course and it will give them the flexibility to show their knowledge in a way suitable to them.
As spring rolls around and the end of the school year is within sight, there is much more stress brought on by major assessments given out in various classes. Soon enough, however, school will get out, and the stress of the year will fade into the rear view mirror. Until September.
