The music taste of Americans has evolved significantly over the years. So which music genre is currently the most liked by Pingree freshmen? This has been a mystery up until this point.
After many eras of different trending music genres, by the 1990s, hip-hop began to spread quickly across America and has been frequently listened to ever since. However, in this generation other music genres have regained their popularity, such as country music and rap.
With the help of freshmen students here at Pingree, there might be a chance of figuring out the answer to the key question: which music genre is the most well-liked?
After multiple interviews with freshmen, Pingree students revealed their favorite music genres: Hip hop and country/folk music. Roughly 36% of the students reported that hip-hop was their favorite genre and another 36% of students said country music was their favorite. The remaining students (28%) said a variety of other genres were favored, including rap and reggae. Many freshmen students shared the same favorite artists, such as SZA, Noah Kahan, Drake, and Zach Bryan. For example, freshmen Holly Hintlian, Riley Dyer, and Sara Graves all reported that SZA was their favorite music artist currently.
Ultimately, it seems as though a lot of students at Pingree have very similar music tastes, the most popular genres being hip-hop and country/folk music.
