If you have watched even one Bruin’s game this season, you know that they are nowhere near as skilled as they have been in past years. There are many reasons why this is happening from an inefficient roster to recruiting difficulties and even a struggling goalie.
According to NBC Sports, one important thing that the Bruins need to improve is their roster. Right now, the Bruin’s star player is David Pastrnak who many believe is in his prime right now. What the Bruins must do is build their roster around him. If he is in his prime, he is their big chance of improvement, and building a roster that complements him will help them improve.
NBC Sports also states that another big roster-related issue right now is the age of the people they are drafting. Right now the Bruins are rarely getting young players with a lot of potential they can build upon. Instead they are drafting players who have been in the league for years and are past their primes. What is a cheaper and better option for the Bruins is looking forward to the college draft and getting younger players who they can build up and make their own.
According to Boston.com a third huge improvement the Bruins need to make is with their goalie in the 2023-24 season the Bruins Goalie Jeremy Swayman had a good save percentage that was tenth in the league. In the 2024-25 season, though, he dropped down to 50th place and it has just gotten worse since. What the Bruins must do is find what the root of the problem with Swayman is and fix it fast because what the data shows is that he will just keep getting worse.
According to Bleacher Report a final and arguably the most important thing the Bruins must do to improve is find some replacement centers. After the retirement of the Bruins’ two main centers, Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci, they have yet to find sustainable replacements. They have tried to find many replacements, but none of them have worked out nearly as well as they hoped. A prime example of this is when the Bruins signed Elias Lindholm who was expected to be a top-six center in the league. The Bruins signed Lindholm to an 8-year $54 million contract and so far he has been nothing but a disappointment.
If the Bruins want to improve they must make at least one of these changes that will drastically change the team for the better.
